Dr. Hwang is originally from New York City. He received his MD degree at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He moved to Philadelphia for his Internal Medicine training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and then completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at Lankenau Medical Center.
He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He began his gastroenterology practice serving the communities of Delaware, Philadelphia and Montgomery counties by covering Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Mercy Philadelphia Hospital, Roxborough Memorial Hospital and Surburban Community Hospital over the course of 8 years. He joined WestChester GI In June 2021.
His areas of interest include GERD, liver disease and general gastroenterology. He has privileges at Chester County Hospital. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and the American Gastroenterological LoopAssociation (AGA).
Dr. Hwang has published articles concerning the relationship of PPIs to Zinc absorption in the body, socioeconomic colon cancer screening disparities and during his college years, organic chemistry research relating to semiconductors.
During his free time, he enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with his wife and three daughters. His other recreational interests include golf, tennis and basketball.
